That is simply not always true. Go on the Internet and check mainstream news stories, since I am sure you won't believe me.
Some numbers are made up. However, the more expensive ones are either obtained from the Social Security office (they caught a few guys that just left some intentionally unassigned) or are stolen from babies or other real people who aren't expected to be using their number in the near future making it unlikely they would get caught. When those kids grow up, if the illegal has used the number for loans and defaulted, etc., the kids credit is already ruined. They may eventually straighten it out, but I have had a number of friends who were victims of identity theft and it takes years and continual effort and great expense to even mostly patch up your credit.
This is why I am so incensed about the idea that illegals if legalized would get credit for social security payments made into a victim's account.Why are so many people confused about illegal immigrants working with a false social security number?
Please don't get the wrong idea though. I know it is still a criminal offense any which why you put it, but my point is that illegal aliens are not the only problem we have. In life people go as far as you let them. I hope you understand what I am trying to say.

Illegal aliens are not the only problem and at least one of the identity theives was a home bred thief.
If the social security numbers belong to another person, people get badly hurt, can't buy houses, etc. I do understand your point, I just don't agree with this particular part of it.

Most AMERICAN business KNOW that many illegal immigrants have FAKE papers BUT don't give a ****! There denfense is ';I didn't know they were fake';. And what can you do about it? The business WILL TAKE TAXES from thier pay EVEN though illegals and legal cannot really use the benifits.
THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN!!! Immigrants legal or not are also victims here! Look into the past people! All our forfathers were screwed just like the immigrants now! Enforcement of the law IS A JOKE just like BUSH, Jr.!
Sometimes they use each others' ss#'s, id's, etc.
Regardless of whether the number was stolen from someone else or just made up or given to them by a criminal working in the SS department or purchased from an illegal ID dealer - regardless, when they use these numbers, it is a federal crime and they should be charged and prosecuted and deported. I don't feel sorry for them that their employers deduct taxes from their pay that they then cannot receive back because they can't file a tax claim - too bad! For the most part, even when they do use a fake SSN, they claim so many dependents (also usually lying) that they don't get a fair amount of taxes deducted, anyways. No, I don't feel sorry for them, no way!
Sorry to burst your safety bubble but it is a stolen identity. In some cases they take the names of children who died young by getting their birth certs and creating an identity for themselves. When some problem occurs they disappear and when the police trace the dead childs family it brings added grief to them as they have to go through the motions of proving their child had died.
Of course some of the illegals use stolen social security numbers. People have had their social security numbers and identities stolen by these illegals. Some may make the numbers up, but that's still a crime. They are not prosecuted for this the same reason why the government looks the other way and wants to give the illegals amnesty, because it suits their agendas.
Simple question, simple answer. A lot of people just believe what they want to believe, they hear something they like from some random person (unreliable source) and they stick to that as if it were true. Some people love to leave in fear and ignorance.
I personally know some illegals and know that they make up their social security number (they dont steal real or valid ones) or they use a tax id number to work and file taxes. I actually know someone who did have a social he later found out belonged to a man that died in the 1930's.
I think mexico needs to go home. Identity theft, whatever theft, it's theft, they need to get out of our country. Period. America's played host to this bleeding-heart crap for too long. It needs to stop. A great way to do that would be to start deporting people for committing crimes in the United States. As in, you screw up, you're leaving. Pretty simple, really...
Maybe beacuse they do not know as much as you do?
