False positive blood work?!?!?

Ok, so in June i tested positive for syphillis, and after retaking the test it showed that i didnt have it. I recently donated blood a week ago and i got a letter back saying that my blood is positive for syphillis. I have never done ANYTHING that would get me syphillis, do u know what would cause this false positive????False positive blood work?!?!?
If your blood test is positive for syphilis - and you don't get one - it can mean the you've got special antibodies in your blood, which are similar to the antibodies again the syphilis. The antibodies are part of the human protective system, they are for find and kill the foreign things, e.g. the bacteria that causes syphilis in your body. In the blood test it's searched for these antibodies, and it is positive if you've ever meet the bacterium. OR it can be a kind of mistake of your immune system, when an antibody - which is similar to the one against the syphilis- is product against one part of your own body. So they're called auto-antibody. In most cases these antibodies don't have any significance, but they can also be the sign of an autoimmune disease e.g. SLE (lupus), maybe you've heard about it. You should see an immunologist who can help you find the reason of the positive test.False positive blood work?!?!?
clinics usually us a vdrl test which is only a screening test and false positives are relatively common. if it comes back positive they should do an fta test which actually tests for the presence of the bacteria that causes syphilis. if that comes back positive it clinches it.

Whoever said false positives are not possible is ignorant. False positives for syphilis are very common. Talk to your doctor. They will be able to tell you for sure what is going on. Remember, its not likely but syphilis sores can occur in the mouth and can be passed through kissing.

you can't get a false posative only a false negative re trace your steps, you must have slept with somone to get it, thats the only way you can get it , have a think dont leave it it's a dangerious thing if left......
If you have been exposed to lyme disease, that could cause a false positive.
just do as the doctor says to do to be on the safe side of things and dont worry about it

AND CALL THE PLACE YOU DONATED BLOOD TO ANDLET THEM KNOW
