A machine reduces the amount of work you have to do. FALSE?

This statement is false. What does a machine actually do?A machine reduces the amount of work you have to do. FALSE?
A machine makes work EASIER but not less. Generally a machine will reduce the force needed to do a job, but as a consequence, the distance the force moves will be greater. (remember work = force x distance). Examples. 2 or more pulley system.... car jack... inclined plane etc.

Inevitably the work done will be greater than without the machine due to doing extra work against friction within the machine and maybe lifting extra weight.A machine reduces the amount of work you have to do. FALSE?
It makes easier to work the same work again and again.
